Modesta (Ramirez) Hernandez, 76, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 7 at her residence.

Funeral services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas, and will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Forest Hamilton of Faith & Family church officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Visitation will be on Friday, April 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home.

Modesta was born on Nov. 22, 1941 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Louis and Pilar (Gonzales) Ramirez. She worked various jobs to help the family, and later in life, she owned and operated Los Palmitas Bar. She was a volunteer at GCAM for 15 years. She collected antiques. Her hobby was volunteering at GCAM. Modesta loved her family and enjoyed being with them for any occasion.

Modesta is survived by one son; Michael Salazar and his wife, Joanna Bara of Gonzales, Texas, two daughters; Beatrice Navejar and her husband, Michael of Gonzales, Texas, Patricia Mitchell and her husband, Alfred Brown of Gonzales, Texas, one brother; Adan Ramirez and his wife, Martina of Nixon, Texas, four sisters; Juanita Gonzales and her husband, Gerano of Bryan, Texas, Eva Lopez and her husband, Manuel of Gonzales, Texas, Maria Ramirez of Gonzales, Texas, Martina Ramirez of Gonzales, Texas, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Louis and Pilar Ramirez, one daughter; Melinda Gomez, five brothers; Alvino Ramirez Sr., Louis Ramirez Jr., Martin Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, Antonio Ramirez, and one sister; Rico Cerda.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Hernandez will be; Alfred Brown, Michael Navejar Jr., Louis Lopez, Johnny Hodges, Nathan Nichols, and Mychal Arron Salazar.
