Matias Liguez was born in Gonzales on Nov. 26, 1943, where he spent the majority of his young life growing up. His parents, Matias Liguez Sr. and Louise Gonzales, raised him for a short time and later moved in with his grandparents to assist them. He attended Gonzales High School and graduated class of 1962.

Matias later moved to San Antonio where he spent the remainder of his life. He briefly moved to Missouri with his wife Kathy and son Sean to be closer to family. He worked for Dillard’s and Montgomery wards for 10 years and spent the remainder of his career as a salesman for various car companies.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Liguez; children, Trey, Stephanie, and Sean Liguez; and grandchildren, Layla, Palmer, and Zoie Liguez. Marty has his sister, Ruth L. Magana, niece, Ruth Ann Magana, and nephew, Danny Liguez. Marty also has two children from a previous marriage, Sharon Liguez (Jolly ) and Noel Liguez, along with their children and grandchildren.

Marty loved cars. He always stayed up to date on the current trends of motor vehicles. His preference was the older model cars. He enjoyed 50s music as well as songs from artists including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Rob Stewart and Michael Buble. He will always be loved and remembered by the people he has influenced in his life.

Memorial services were at the Pedrotti’s North Wind Ranch on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m.
