Mary Kay Bouldin Seger, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Friday, May 22, at the age of 67 with her family by her side.

She was born Jan. 15, 1953, to the late William Bowers Bouldin and Dorothy Elaine Bouldin in Victoria, Texas. She attended Victoria High School and then Victoria College. She married her best friend and love of her life Alphonse William (Bill) Seger of Beeville, Texas, in June of 1973.

They resided in Victoria as they started their family with a daughter, Andrea Lea “Andi” Seger, and son, John William “Will” Seger. In 1985 they moved to her father’s family homestead in Waelder, Texas, where Mary, or Mrs. Mary as Bill always called her, became a substitute teacher for many of the area schools including Waelder and Flatonia ISD. She along with Bill were also CCD team teachers for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia.

She then became an excellent caregiver for her aging father. Spending lots of time and long hours travelling to and from hospitals during his battle with lung cancer, all the while being an amazing mother to Andi and Will and loving wife to Bill. After her father passed away and her children went off the college, she joined the workforce spending several years working at Andy’s Food Mart in Schulenburg, Texas, and several years at Walmart in LaGrange Texas. No matter where she worked or where she went, she was always known for her beautiful smile and sweet soul.

In May of 2002 she became grandmother for the very first time and was over the moon to retire and become a full time granny to her first-born granddaughter, Quinci Seger-Gordon. In January 2004 the next love of her life, Hailey Seger, was born, and then in May of the same year her third beautiful granddaughter, Delaini “Coco” Seger-Gordon, was born. These three girls became the light of her life. She lived to be their granny, to tease them with stories, and to watch them as they blossomed into young ladies.

In 2010 she was diagnosed with Multiple Myloma and began her long hard road of battling cancer. Although weekly chemo treatments made for a rough 10-year battle she continued the fight so that she could be with her family just a little longer, and always with a smile for every nurse, doctor, and all of the other patients battling along beside her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her older sister, Carol Wagner of Victoria, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, daughter Andi, son Will, and three granddaughters, two step-grandchildren Christian and Caitlyn Cleary, as well as one brother, William Ralph (Billy) Bouldin and wife Sandy, several loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, seydlerhillfuneralhome.com.
