Marjorie Lee Burnett, formerly of Smiley, Texas, entered eternal rest on Feb. 29, in Coldwater, Mich., at the age of 84 years. She was born in Cotulla, Texas on Feb. 16, 1936.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Homer Burnett; mother, Maudie Elizabeth Whiddon Donaldson; daughter, Sandra Louise “Sandi” Jordan; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Conway.

Marjorie was an historian, writer and author. She was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution being named Woman of the Year in 2012, as well as Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Commissioner of the Alamo. She had also been featured on Texas Country Reporter.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Andrew Kent Hyatt (Shawna); grandchildren, Nathan Hyatt, Thomas Hyatt, Mattie Ginoble, Shawn Benoit, and Dusti Taylor; great-grandchildren, Connor Benoit, Tyler Huffman, Sadie Taylor, Aiden Bales, Kaylee Ginoble, James Ginoble, and Avline Genoble; brother, Fred Donaldson (Leslie); son-in-law, Kent Jordan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and many friends.

Visitation will be held graveside on Saturday, March 7, 12 p.m. noon - 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Cemetery in Smiley, Texas.

Pilgrim Cemetery, Smiley
