Marcia Lawson Pinney, 74, beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and community member passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Sept. 19, 2020 in Luling, Texas.

Marcia was born on April 17, 1946 in Fillmore, Utah near her hometown of Kanosh where she lived until 18 years old. Upon graduating from Millard High School she moved to Salt Lake City where she attended cosmetology school.

She married her husband, Raymond (Spike) Pinney, in 1969. They were fortunate enough to travel and live in over 40 different states with Spike’s work where she became lifelong friends with everyone she met. They resided in Guadalupe and Gonzales Counties for the last 30 years.

Marcia found joy in volunteering and was an active member of the Belmont Ladies Club, as well as her Bunco and Bingo groups. She worked closely with the local library and helped organize the Nickells Library Book Sale and helped with Build-a-Bear Workshop and Lego Club in town. Marcia was very artistic and loved to paint and create homemade gifts for others. She also loved and cared for many animals, especially cats.

The family remembers there were always kittens, fishing boat rides, and bird watching. Her house was a place of adventure and wonder! She was full of grace, peacefulness and kindness. She was always calm, composed and fearless. She was a woman of strength who showed it with her actions – you know that “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger”.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Evalyn Lawson, and her brothers, Brent and Bill Lawson. She is survived by her husband, Spike Pinney; son, Chuck McGavin; sister, Lauralee Lawson; brothers/sisters in law, Tom and Mary Scott, David and Judy Scott, Betty Jo and Allen Sonstein, and JoAnn Lawson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service to remember our sweet Marcia will be held in early October.
