Managing editor charged with DWI

The managing editor of the Gonzales Inquirer, Jose Torres, was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 14, in the city of Gonzales.

The arrest took place at 12:05 a.m. on St. Paul Street near Apache Field and the Turn Around bar. A Texas Department Public Safety patrol officer was following Mr. Torres’ car southbound on St. Paul Street when he noticed that the license plate light was not working. The officer pulled the vehicle over, and then detected the smell of alcohol when he questioned Mr. Torres.

After conducting field sobriety tests, Mr. Torres was taken to the Gonzales County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. His blood alcohol test measured .15.

Mr. Torres was later released on Sunday on a $5,000 bond.
