GONZALES — A local man was jailed after police said he got drunk and attacked his father, biting off a portion of his ear.

At 10 p.m. Jan. 29, Officer Ryan Salles was dispatched to the 2400 block of Church Street regarding a disturbance in progress, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. Upon arrival Salles saw Joshua Duane Noyola, 30, of Gonzales, lying on the ground near the front door of the residence. Sgt. J.D. Holt arrived on the scene to assist, and Noyola began yelling and cursing. Taylor said the officers could smell alcohol on his breath.

Officers spoke with Noyola’s father, who told them the two had gotten into an argument. Noyola, who was seated in the patrol car, began banging his head on the car’s interior, cutting his head in the process.

The victim told officers Noyola had bitten him on the arm and wrist, as well as his ear — tearing off a portion of his earlobe in the altercation. Noyola was taken to Gonzales Memorial Hospital and evaluated, and later to Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

Man nabbed for warrant, meth

At 3:44 a.m. Jan. 30, Officer Salles, along with officers, was dispatched to the 1600 block of St. Joseph in reference to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival officers saw three men standing outside the residence. While speaking with the men officers learned that Alex Jonathan Deleon, 31, of Gonzales, had an outstanding arrest warrant from the City of Gonzales. Officers arrested Deleon, who told them he had to be taken to the hospital because he was having heart problems.

Officer J.D. Holt joined officers at Gonzales Memorial Hospital, where he informed them he had found a bag containing what he believed to be meth back at the scene. After Deleon was evaluated he was taken to Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1.

Man arrested for assaulting wife

On Jan. 26, Officer Tyler Wendland was dispatched to the 300 block of Carroll St. in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival he met with two women — one of whom said the suspect (her husband) had gotten into an argument with her and pushed her down. The other woman was a witness to the incident, Taylor said.

The victim said her husband, identified as Arthur Cantu, 33, of Gonzales, had pushed her down and repeatedly punched and kicked her in the head. Officers found marks and swelling on the victim’s head, and found Cantu and arrested him. Cantu was taken to Gonzales County Jail and charged with assault family violence.
