The Gonzales Main Street Concert Series is ramped up and ready to go and is looking to fill the downtown square with sounds of western swing and Top 10 party hits during the month of June. And per tradition, a little rock and Tejano will be added to the mix, too.

“It's hard to believe this is the 10th anniversary of the Concert Series,” noted Main Street Chairman Egon Barthels. “I am humbled and thankful for the citizens of Gonzales County, visitors to the community, non profits and businesses who sponsor, attend, and support the event.”

The Series kicks off Friday, June 1 with Jeff Woolsey and the Dancehall Kings. Their official booking site touts them as performing “traditional country dancehall music” and has a bandleader, Woolsey,

who counts Ray Price, Faron Young, and George Jones as musical inspirations. The band has future dates booked at the Granger Cotton Club, London Hall and The Western Club, so you know that you're guaranteed a night of smooth two-stepping and waltzing.

Next Friday brings Marcos Orozco to town. Orozco began his career with David Lee Garza y los Musicales, a fertile ground for aspiring Tejano musicians. He now tours with his own band, Grupo Rebelde.

Hard rock cover artists LC Rocks headlines on June 15. The band “rips through a classic rock performance taking you on an electric ride that's full of live epic music.” The band brags on a colorful light show and mixes in the hits from legends like Def Leppard, AC/DC, Journey and Guns and Roses.

For fans of Southern Louisiana sounds, Fiddlin Keith Junot brings his Cajun tunes out on June 22. The southpaw fiddler has entertained since 1974 and comes from a successful family lineage with his Texas Hall of Fame father Ed Junot “The Fiddling Cajun” starting a tradition that continues onto the streets of Gonzales.

June closes out with Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, named one of the top ten party bands in the country by Harper's Bazaar magazine. They combine the sounds and look from the 1960s through today and state that they are “beehives for breakfast, leopard skin for lunch, ans satin for supper.”

The whole summertime fete concludes with the Star Spangled Spectacular on July 4 with fireworks and music by Kris Gordon and John Christopher Way. Both artists will bring a more current and contemporary country sound to the stage.

“We are excited about the upcoming Concert Series,” said Barthels. “If you or anyone you know plan on joining us, or would like to become a sponsor, I invite you to like Gonzales Main Street on Facebook or visit gonzalesmainstreet.org.”
