Mable Elaine Richter, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 14. Mable was born March 10, 1931 in Monthalia, Texas to Ernest Manning Bailey and Minnie Maudie Mahan Bailey. She married her life-long partner, Hamon Ben Richter on June 18, 1950. Of this union, she and “Ben” had two sons, Larry Ben and Dennis Jay, both of whom preceded her in death. Mable was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Mable had a strong work ethic and she could often be seen working side-by-side Ben in their carpentry business. She and Ben were inseparable and rarely did you see one of them without the other nearby. Mable had an incredibly strong spirit as she served as Ben’s rock and Dennis’ unfailing support for many years. She loved music and she spent countless hours listening to Dennis and later her grandson, D.J. sing and perform with their band. She enjoyed baseball and she could often be seen at Little League and select baseball games, watching her grandsons play. She became fond of puzzles and she spent hours with her friend, Helen and grandson, Mason, putting together puzzles, many of which she displayed on her walls in her room at The Heights. Mable was extremely devoted to her family and friends and they all knew that she was just a phone call away if they needed anything.

Mable is survived by her grandsons, Dennis Jay “D.J.” Richter and his wife Connor, Mason Ben Richter and Colby Allan Richter all of Gonzales, her great-grandchildren, Rhett Jay and Corlee Jo Richter, sister, Glenna Kohli of Lima, Ohio, sister-in-law, Martha Jones of Seguin, brother-in-law, Douglas Richter of La Grange, daughter-in-law, Kim Richter of Gonzales, numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Helen Richter, who was always there to ensure she was ok. Mable was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16 in Gonzales Memorial Park with Rev, Robert Ramirez officiating. Memorials may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church or the Gonzales Relay for Life. Friends may leave their condolences by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com.
