Lucille E. (Whiteside) Rayes, great-great granddaughter of John Benjamin Kellogg II, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, in Houston, TX. John Benjamin Kellogg, II was one of the youngest Immortal 32 Gonzales Rangers that died in The Alamo. Lucille was born in Gonzales, TX on Aug. 10, 1932 to Laura B. Kellogg Whiteside and A. C. Whiteside. She was predeceased by her daughter, Bernice Davis and her son Alvin Rayes. She is survived by daughter Margie Rayes, several nieces and one granddaughter. Lucille will be missed by many friends and extended family members. She had tremendous faith in God as evidenced by one of her journal entries to God… “I was thinking today how much you have given me. Oh, not money, but taken care of me so well in so many bad times. It could have been so much worse if you or my angels hadn’t been with me to take care of me…I thank you so much God for everything. I bow at your feet God. Thank you.” Lucille loved Texas Bluebonnets and a celebration of her life will be held in the Texas Hill Country in the spring.
