Lorenzo Ramirez Duran

Our precious “Pa,” Lorenzo Ramirez Duran, was called to go home on May 23, 2018. He was born on Aug. 10, 1955, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Raymundo and Maria Del Carmen Ramirez.

He resided in the loving community of Gonzales with our mother, Ricarda Ramirez, the love of his life for 41 years. Our parents married on June 4, 1977, in Mexico. He loved her home-cooked meals and made sure my mom always knew she was beautiful.

With much hard work, he received an accounting degree and served as a police officer in Mexico, then came to the United States in hope to provide a better life for his family. In the U.S., he worked for Cal-Maine, Kitchen Pride and J & B before he became disabled due to kidney failure.

Our dad was a hardworking man who taught us about working hard to accomplish great things. His latest accomplishment was receiving his U.S. citizenship by completing all the exams and requirements.

Our dad was a soft and kind spirit that had a way with words as he patiently listened to our stories. He received much pleasure in giving to others and always put us first before himself. Our dad was a loving grandpa or “Pa” as his 13 grandkids called him: Jazmin, Krysten, Julie, Katya, and Natalie Zuniga; Christian, Macey, Mylea Pena; Alexia Juarez, Leo, Luis and Angelique Tinajero; Marco Ramirez. We were extremely blessed to have him as our father and we will miss him so much. With love, Roberto and Patricia Zuniga, Manuel Pena Jr. and Mary Lynn Ramirez, Gustavo and Karla Ramirez and Alberto and Mariela Tinajero.

The funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home and will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales.
