Lonnie Claye "Butch" Douglas, 71, of Smiley, passed away Sunday, June 17. He was born on April 20, 1947 in Yoakum to James and Delores Douglas Williams. After graduating from Daule High School in 1965 Lonnie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Elisa Dominguez, in April of 1978 in Smiley.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 40 years; mother; daughters, Aretha (Kevin) Clack of Houston, Vette (Joseph) Austin of Cuero, Terry (Lupe) Villarreal of Las Vegas, Shanda (Shayne) Ivy of Smiley, and Ashton O'Neal of Nixon; grandsons, Noah Mims and Braxton Regalado, both of Smiley; grandsons, Michael Shippard and Bradley Austin; granddaughters, Nadyai Ogelsby, Ashley Drake, Jasmine Luckett, Terri Pearson and Courtney Hinojosa; sisters, Karen (Wendell) Pyatt of Spring Valley, CA and Beverly (James) Ransom of Cuero; brothers, James (Sandra) Williams Jr. of Cuero, Melvin (Jackie) Williams of Pearland, Russell Williams of Houston, and Michael Williams of Cuero; and his in laws, John and Rachel Dominguez; aunt, Joyce Mayo; one great uncle, Marvin (Morene) Douglas; 10 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; father; son, Mark Medina and a brother, Alvin Williams.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow immediately at 3 p.m. with Pastor Morales Laredo officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Pallbearers will include Levace Cambell, Claud Green, James Carter, Naoh Mims, Braxton Regalado, and Dakota O'Neil. Honorary pallbearers are the graduating class of 1965 of Daule Highschool.

Memorial contributions may be made to Efeso Baptist Church in Smiley.
