GONZALES — A Houston woman faces felony charges after authorities said she drove while intoxicated and caused a wreck that sent a local woman to the hospital.

The Texas Highway Patrol reported that at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 18, a 2012 Kia Sorento driven by Hannah Kirby, 32, of Houston was headed west on Highway 90A (Shiner Highway) when it veered into the eastbound lane and struck an oncoming 2012 Dodge Ram driven by Candace Condel, 26, of Gonzales. The collision caused the Ram to crash into a 2014 Chevy Silverado driven by Anna Sylvia Escoto, 28, of Gonzales, who was headed west.

Escoto was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for incapacitating injuries, and Condel to Gonzales Memorial Hospital. Condel was later reported to be uninjured.

Troopers said Kirby was driving while intoxicated, and that she was arrested and charged with intoxication assault. She was taken to Gonzales County Jail.
