GONZALES — A local man was arrested after police said they found him with marijuana, meth and cocaine.

On Oct. 1, Officer Mark Hastings arrived at the 1100 block of Hastings St. to serve an arrest warrant, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. The woman for whom the warrant had been issued was sitting on the front porch of the residence, and while speaking with her officers noticed a man sitting next to her “trying to roll some containers into his shirt,” Taylor said. The man was identified as Darren Deshawn Hunt, 36, of Gonzales.

When asked what he was hiding, Hunt told officers it was Advil, Taylor said. When the officers confiscated and looked inside the bottles, they were discovered to be empty. However, a field test of the residue inside revealed it to be some form of narcotics.

A subsequent search of the porch led to the discovery of marijuana and cocaine, which Hunt admitted to be his. Also found was a small bag of meth, Taylor said.

Hunt was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than 1 gram and tampering with evidence.
