Lady Cardinals win cross-country title for fourth consecutive year

WACO — Shiner St. Paul were named champions yet again, this time for the fourth consecutive year, as the Lady Cardinals outraced their opponents in the cross-country state meet on Saturday in Waco.

Led by senior Emma Morgan, who has run on all four championship teams, the team comprised of junior Elyssa Wagner (who won her third straight) finishing the race seventh, sophomore Bailey Blair finished 11th in the race as she collected her second straight title, followed by freshman Macy Grabarkievtz who finished 13th, Hope Kapavik finished 16th (earning her second title), junior Ashley Wachsmuth placed 22nd (earning her third) and sophomore Riley Johnson grabbed her second title with 25th-place finish.

The St. Paul boys team took second place in the state meet, with Lane Jackson leading the way for the Cardinals, finishing ninth. Walker Jackson took 11th, Nathan Wagner placed 18th, Andrew Wagner finished 23rd, Frank Benes placed 30th, Jacob Darilek 34th and Cole Brown at 68th.
