Lady Apaches take down Wimberley

GONZALES — The Gonzales Lady Apaches won their final District 26-4A game at home, beating out Wimberley 51-50. After going up 11-9 in the first quarter, the Lady Texans took the lead with a 16-11 second quarter, going up 25-22. They added to their lead with a 10-8 advantage in the third before Gonzales outscored the Lady Texans 21-15 in the fourth to win by one point.

Sheridan Tate led the team in scoring with 18 points. She shot 8-of-10 from the free-throw line while also grabbing six rebounds and one steal.

Freshman Devon Williams had a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 21 rebounds. Amanda Dixson had eight points, three rebounds and two assists.

The win gives Gonzales their third of the season, moving to 3-5 in District 26-4A. Wimberley, meanwhile, drops to 2-5 in district with a game tonight against Austin Eastside (0-7). The Lady Texans previously took down Eastside Memorial 54-25 on Jan. 20. If the Lady Texans win, a third-place game may be determined, though a time and a place has yet to be announced.
