Lady Apaches honored on all-district list

GONZALES — Eleven Gonzales Lady Apache basketball players were honored as the District 30-4A girls hoops all-district list was released this week.

Junior post Devon Williams was named the district’s defensive player of the year.

Named to the first team were Ali Rocha, Chella Longoria and Sam Barnick. Named to the second team all-district list were Chelsie Hastings, Kayley Martinez and Madi Pirkle. Destiny Hunt, Leanndrea “Chu Chu” McCarty, Hailey Sample and Caitlyn Rhoades were all honorably mentioned.

The Lady Apaches went 9-3 in district play, taking third in District 30-4A. They were beaten in the bi-district round by Crystal City.
