GJHS 8B boys beat Navarro

Last week, the GJHS Apaches 8th grade B team beat Navarro 37-26. Parker Storey was the player of the game with 16 points. Dakota Dubose also had a great game, according to coaches, scoring 10 points. Miguel Moreno added five points, Landon Holub had four points and Drew Pennington had two points.

GJHS 8A boys fall short

The Apaches A team played their best “team game of the season,” according to coaches, but ultimately fell short in the end, losing to the Navarro Panthers. Rocky Gallegos had six points to lead the team. Cree Stowers had five points while Adan Cabrerra had four. Weston Ruddock and Ryder McGehee both closed it out with three points each.

GJHS 8B, 8A girls swept on the road

The 8th Grade girls traveled to Navarro on Thursday, Jan. 24 to play the Lady Panthers. The B team started the night off slow trailing by 16 before being able to get on the scoreboard. The girls from that point forward played much better and scored 20 points in the 4th period to cut a 22-point Lady Panther lead down to eight to end the game losing 53-45, according to coaches. The girls were led by Kelly Breitschopf with 14 points, Christie Reyna with 10 points and Sam Baker with 10 points. “I was very proud of their effort and determination,” coaches wrote.

The 8th Grade A Lady Apaches struggled to get the shots to fall, losing to the Lady Panthers 43-12. Courdasia Vanderbilt was the leading scorer with four points. Defensively, Sydney McCray had multiple steals creating offensive opportunities.

“The Lady Panthers played a great game and we have to tip our hat to them,” coaches wrote. “We came out flat and could never really get the game going our way. We did have some bright spots where we ran the offense better than we have all year.”

GJHS 7B, 7A boys lose to Navarro

The Gonzales Lady Apaches 7th grade "B team" lost to Navarro 21-9. Jayden Moreno scored four points, River Vankirk and Jaydon Lampkin each scored two points and Stephen Cabrera scored one point.

The Gonzales Lady Apaches 7th grade "A team" lost to Navarro 36-29. Gavin Lekgega scored 11 points, Jermane Upshaw scored 10 points, Blaine Taylor scored 5 points and Calvin Collier scored 3 points.

GJHS 7A girls lose to Lady Panthers

The Gonzales Lady Apaches 7th grade A team lost to Navarro 44-25. The team’s leading scorer was Bella Aguero with 10 points. Kilee Schwausch added four points, while Sandra Colchado had five points, Petra Koch four points and Karyme Lorea scored two points. Defensive player of the game was Petra Koch.

GJHS 8A, 8B boys lose to Cuero

The Gonzales Apaches 8th grade B team fell to the Gobblers earlier this week. Leading scorer was Parker Storey with eight points, followed by JD Longoria with five points, Dakota Dubose with two points and Andrew Pennington with one point.

The 8th grade A team fell to a very talented Gobbler team as well, according to coaches. Cree Stowers was the leading scorer with six points.

Shiner Catholic SLE A team beats St. Philips

Shiner Catholoic’s St. Ludmila Elementary Lady Cardinals A team knocked off St. Philips 27-13. Brook Cerny was the leading scorer with 15 points. Stef Pokiluda added six points while Gabi Rodriguez had four points and Sam Moeller had two points.

Shiner Catholic SLE B team loses close to St. Philips

St. Ludmila Elementary Lady Cardinals B team lost close to St. Philips 16-10. Summer Lopez was the team’s leading scorer with four points. Dallyn Pesek, SIenna Rios and Kennedy Dodson each had two points.

GJHS 7A, 7B lose to Cuero

The GJHS 7th grade boys "B team" lost to Cuero 28-20. Zane Whitehead scored four points, River Vankirk and Stephen Cabrera scored three points while Landon Lindstedt, Juan Govea, Dylan Rodriguez, Jaydon Lampkin and Kenyon Sanders each scored two points.

The 7th grade boys "A team" lost to Cuero 43-32.  Dylan Hunt scored 18 points, Blaine Taylor scored seven points, Jermane Upshaw scored two points and Calvin Collier five points.

GJHS 7A girls lose close

The Gonzales Lady Apaches 7A team lost to Cuero 31-24. Leading scorer was Bella Aguero with 12 points. Other scorers were Scarlete Cerda with five points and Sandra Colchado, Karyme Lorea and Dakota Schmidt with two points each.
