Gonzales 8th grade teams beat Pleasanton
The Gonzales 8th grade A team defeated Pleasanton in three sets, (19-25, 25-9, 25-18). Sample scored 12 points, McCray scored 14 points, Lester scored 3 points, Ploeger had 9 points, Clack 6 points, and Reyna scored 8 points. The A team is now 3-3 in district.
The 8th grade B team also beat Pleasanton in three sets, (8-25, 25-15, 15-2). Guerra scored 9 points, Schroeder had 13 points and Lowery scored 6 points. The B team is now 4-2 in district.
Gonzales 7A comes up short
On Monday, Oct. 14, the Gonzales Lady Apache 7th Grade A Team played an outstanding game but came up short and was unfortunately defeated by Pleasanton in three sets, (25-17, 18-25, and 20-18). In the first match, Megan Tenberg served for six points, Sarah Padilla served four points, and Kilee Schwausch served four points. In the second match, Peyton Harkey served 13 points and Peyton Springfield served five points. In the third match, Peyton Harkey served seven points, Peyton Springfield served four points, and Sarah Padilla served three points. Defensive players of the game were Sarah Padilla, Bella Aguero and Mariela Grifaldo. Way to work hard and great teamwork.
Gonzales 8th grade teams split with La Vernia
The Gonzales B team defeated La Vernia in two sets, (28-26, 25-22). Overall, Mammarella scored 14 points, Schroeder scored 16 points, Lowery scored three points, Guerra scored 11 points, and Avant scored five points. Both games were close tough games that went into extra points, shout out the girls’ awesome defense! B team is now 4-2 in district.
The Gonzales A team lost to La Vernia in three sets, (25-13, 26-28, 25-16). Gonzales fought back to win the second set 28-26 with extra points. The A team is now 2-4.
Gonzales 7A loses to La Vernia
Last Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Gonzales Lady Apaches 7th Grade A Team fought hard but was defeated by La Vernia in two sets. Top players for the night were Sarah Padilla, Bella Aguero, and Dakota Schmidt.
7th grade "B team" football loses to Pleasanton 6-8
Issac Gonzales scored an eight-yard touchdown run. Defensive player of the game was Anthony Castro. Jordan Escobedo had the big hit of the night on defense.
7th grade "A team" beat Pleasanton 24-0
Emiliano Lopez was the offensive player of the game. He scored all three touchdowns on runs of five, 32, and eight yards. Matthew Rios scored a two-point run three times. Defensive player of the game was Christian Cantu. Matthew Rios had the big hit of the night on defense. Their record is now 3-1 on the year.
8th grade "B team" beat Pleasanton 12-0
Damian Hernandez scored two touchdowns on the night behind blocking of Jared Bolton, Alexis Vazquez, Nicolas Davidson, Israel Ibarra, and Hayden Lopez. Edgar Esquivel and Kevin Villagomez were defensive players of the game.
8th grade "A team" beat Pleasanton 16-14.
T.J. Riojas was offensive player of the game, scoring two touchdown runs of four and five yards. He also scored a two-point run twice. Kamren Leal had several good runs behind leading blockers Jacob Clack, Rudy Cardenas, and Javier Veliz. Defensive players of the game were Blake Wright and Kamren Leal. Jessiah Barr had the big hit of the night. The "A team" remains undefeated with a 4-0 record.
