Jowan “Jodie” D. Jahns, 75, of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13. Jodie was born March 12, 1942 in Seymour, Texas to Cecil Clyde Vincent and Ruby Ruth Allen Vincent. Jodie had worked 20 years for the USDA as an inspector, an occupation and task that she took earnestly.

Jodie’s joy was coming home from work and being greeted by her collection of Chihuahua’s who were oh so happy to have their momma home and her warm lap to sit on. Her greatest love was her family, she found a bit of heaven when she was able to have all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her, especially at Christmas and Easter. She enjoyed watching “Golden Girls” and “America’s Most Wanted” with her grandchildren. Though she was a wonderful baker, she was delighted to go out to eat. Shopping was her favorite pastime, but shopping for Jodie was usually paging through a catalog. Though she could be a little stubborn at times, no one left her house without a warm hug and kiss and a genuine “I love you.”

Jodie Jahns is survived by her loving family, daughters, Cindy Schneider of Kingsbury, Rosie Brown of Gonzales, son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Christina Jahns of Gonzales, sister, Edna Barnett of Kingsbury, brothers, M.C. Vincent of Keller, Bill Harborth and wife Nancy of Kingsbury, Harvey Harborth and wife Barbara of Pensacola, FL, grandchildren, Philip Smith (Diane), Samantha Canion and her fiancé Miguel Coronado Jr. , Eric Hull, Brittany Polasek, Austin Brown and fiancé Jessica Garcia, Dakota Brown (Sierra), Kirstie Kuntschik (Kevin), Neal Schneider, Brandon Brown, Brett Jahns, Alyson Jahns, and Evan Jahns and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clyde Vincent, Melvin Harborth and Johnny Vincent, sons, Gerald Lee Chipps and Walter Wesley Bode, grandsons, Nickolas Cuellar and Wesley Brown and her son-in-law, Keith Brown.
