Jesus “Chuy” Cavazos

Jesus “Chuy” Cavazos was born on Oct. 25, 1943 to Bartolo and Maria Cavazos in Portland, Texas. He died March 12 in Gonzales, Texas.

He married Margarita Martinez Cavazos on Aug. 24, 1992, in Karnes City, Texas at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Jesus was a long-life resident of Karnes City, Texas. While living there he worked for many years with Rosales Painting. He also worked for Tyson’s in Nixon, Texas. Later he moved to O’Donnell, Texas where he was a maintenance supervisor for almost 20 years. He moved to Gonzales, Texas the last five years of his life and was a resident of The Heights of Gonzales Nursing Home.

He loved to play solitaire, loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys play, enjoyed going for morning and evening walks with his wife.

Jesus is proceeded in death by both his parents Bartolo and Maria Cavazos of Karnes City, maternal grandparents Rafael and Jesusa Martinez, paternal grandparents Ceralvo and Maria Cavazos, brother Rafael Cavazos of Karnes City, son Vidal Medina of Gonzales and son-in-law Gilbert Alvarez Jr. of Gonzales.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita Cavazos of Gonzales, daughter Guadalupe Alvarez of Gonzales, Paula Coronado and her husband Roldan Coronado of Elgin, Texas, daughter Monica Rodriquez and her husband Michael Rodriquez of Lubbock, Texas, his sisters Anita Maria Sixtos of Yorktown, Texas, Antonia Maria Cavazos of San Antonio, Texas, Emilia Cavazos of Yorktown, Texas, Guadalupe Cavazos Morales of San Antonio, Texas, Lori Cavazos Groschl of San Antonio, Texas and SMSgt. Teodula Rosa Cavazos of Panna Maria, Texas.

He had 14 grandkids, 24 great -grandkids and numerous amounts of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He will be missed dearly. Viewing will be Friday, March 17 at St. James Catholic Church at 11, with the rosary, mass to follow and internment will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas.

Pallbearer are Michael Medina, Chris Martinez, Max Martinez, Michael Rodriquez, Ramon Casteneda, Paul Zamora.

Honorary pallbearers include Roldan Coronado, Jacob Coronado, Matthew Coronado, Vincent Medina, Kalazah Medina, Devrin Zamora.
