Jesse Cordova Hernandez

Jesse Cordova Hernandez, 70, of Van Alstyne, formerly of Gonzales, passed away Friday Dec. 1. He was born February 15, 1947 in Gonzales the son of Jesus and Louisa Cordova Hernandez. He married Alice Villa on April 16, 1973 in Cuero.

He was an expert furniture maker and carpenter. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Holy Family Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Alice Hernandez; daughter Felica Gail Hernandez Gardner; son Jesse Jacob Hernandez Jr.; step-son Bobby Sanchez; step-daughter Lisa Ann Sanchez Grubbs; grandchildren Heather Dawn Grubbs Knowlton, Stetson Cody Sanchez, Dustin Grubbs, Calton Joseph Hampton, Chantel Hampton Pepper and Natasha Marion Sanchez; great-grandchildren Alyson Renee Hampton and Charlie Annalyn Knowlton; brother Crespin Hernandez and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Isaac Hernandez and Mingo Hernandez and sisters Josephine Moreno and Lupe Rodriguez. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the rosary being recited at 10 a.m. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at the Slayden Cemetery. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
