Gonzales County Sheriff

James Allen Taylor (R)

Posted

My name is James Allen Taylor. I am a father, husband and retired Captain with the Gonzales Police Department. I am a 35-year veteran peace officer who many within the community have come to know and trust because of my tireless service and selfless dedication while working for the police department for over 30 years.

I value integrity, transparency and professionalism. All of which I believe are the foundation of a professional law enforcement agency. Without integrity, a department would not be able to exist – period! Transparency is what we owe the people we serve. Professionalism is how we conduct ourselves and represent the department and the people we serve. I plan to instill these values within the Sheriff’s Department if elected Sheriff.

Before retiring from the police department, I felt a higher calling to serve the citizens of Gonzales County. I felt a need to provide a higher level of law enforcement to the citizens. I feel that the community, including the men and women who work for the Sheriff’s Department, are looking for a leader who can lead them in the right direction and into the next generation.

I want to rebuild and re-strengthen the trust and confidence the citizens are asking for. I want to provide commissioned and non-commissioned personnel with the highest level of training and latest equipment; to better serve the citizens and community; and be better prepared to respond to all serious events, especially those events we’ve seen happening throughout our state and country.

I intend to open the lines of communication with the citizens to see what they find most challenging and working together with other law enforcement agencies to bring and deliver the best training for our personnel. I believe it is only then that the mission of the department can be fulfilled.
