Jalene was raised in Gonzales and moved with her husband to Harris County in the 1940’s shortly after marrying. Every Friday she prepared homemade fried chicken for supper, the kind of fried chicken that tasted just as good as cold leftovers as it did fresh out of the frying pan. Thanksgiving was a huge event in her home and every year she needed to buy more and larger serving trays for all the food she would prepare and serve. Jalene was a tender-hearted grandma and loved to crochet afghans, baby blankets and booties for her infant grandchildren. Her legacy is a legacy of love.
