Iris Jean (Adamek, Dolezal) Smolik, 83, Hallettsville, Texas passed away on Monday, May 13 at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Texas.

Funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, Texas with Father Bryan Heyer officiating. Burial will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Joe Machacek officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at Buffington Funeral Home.

Iris was born on Feb. 3, 1936 in Yoakum, Texas. She was the daughter of Anton and Mary (Picha) Adamek. She graduated from Yoakum High School. Iris married Jerry Dolezal in June of 1953. Iris and Jerry raised chickens for Tyson Poultry Division. Iris enjoyed selling Tupperware and hosting Tupperware Parties. She raised and canned vegetables from her vegetable garden. She was a member of KZJT and Pilot Club. Jerry passed away in 1990, and Iris married Hubert Smolik in April 2003.

Iris is survived by three sons; Dale Dolezal and his wife, Jewel Smith of Shiner, Texas, Glen Dolezal and his wife, Karen of Friendswood, Texas, Norman Dolezal and his wife, Jacqueline of Fulshear, Texas, one brother; Gilbert Adamek and his wife, Agnes of Dreyer, Texas, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law; Nancy Dolezal of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; of Anton and Mary Adamek, and one son; Carl Dolezal.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Smolik will be Ronald Adamek, Alan Adamek, Richard Vaclavik, Jimmy Vaclavik, Ronnie Kresta and Steve Dolezal.
