Howard Earl Schwausch, Sr., 65, of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was born Jan. 18, 1953 in Houston to Irvin Dillard Schwausch and Barbara Ann Frye. He married Mary Lou Ramos on April 17, 1972 in Houston.

Howard was born and raised in Houston and graduated from Reagan High School. After high school he went to work for the Houston Chronicle newspaper. He moved to Gonzales in the 60’s and worked for the Holly Farms Hatchery before going to work for Marrou and Company as an auto mechanic. Howard retired from working as a mechanic with Caraway Ford in Gonzales. Howard loved the challenges working as a mechanic. There really wasn’t anything that Howard couldn’t repair or improve upon and he was highly regarded in his field of work. Howard was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He often was called upon to fix something for his children, which as a father, he thoroughly enjoyed.

When time permitted, Howard loved to go fishing and hunting. He cherished time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a man’s man, so he wasn’t extremely demonstrative in expressing his love, but his family clearly knew he loved them completely. Howard was a patriot and was very proud of his son's service in the U.S. military. He was proud of the respectable citizens they all had become, and he was proud that they followed his manner of respecting and caring for the needs of others.

Howard Earl Schwausch, Sr. is survived by his loving family, wife of 46 years, Mary Lou Schwausch; daughter, Carrie Ann Bazan and husband Ricky; sons, Justin Lee Schwausch and wife Sylvia, all of Gonzales, Scott Wayne Schwausch and wife Michelle Lynn of San Diego, and Howard Earl Schwausch, Jr. and fiancé Annalisa Almaguer of Luling; brothers, Gerald Wayne Schwausch and wife Lucy, Lonnie Edward Schwausch, all of Houston, and Michael Wayne Schwausch and wife Sarah of New Braunfels; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Edward Schwausch.
