Guadalupe Rivera

Guadalupe Rivera, 83, of Smiley, Texas passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at her residence.

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Monday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales, Texas.

Guadalupe was born on November 5, 1933 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Guadalupe and Petra (Saceda) Rodriguez. She married Angel Vega Rivera in Gonzales, Texas. Guadalupe enjoyed doing yardwork and caring for her plants. She liked to go shopping, and checking out the garage sales and thrift stores for shoes, hats, and purses. She enjoyed sewing for her family. Guadalupe worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for many years,

Guadalupe is survived by three sons; Serapio Gonzales and his wife, Rosemary of Arlington, Texas, David Rodriguez of Terre Haute, Indiana, Andrew “Andy” Rodriguez of Arlington, Texas, four daughters; Petra Rodriguez Bautista and her husband, Jose of Gonzales, Texas, Elizabeth Rivera of Gonzales, Texas, Susan Rivera and her husband, Frank Deleon of Gonzales, Texas, Jessica Martinez and her husband, Mark of Smiley, Texas, two brothers; Narcisco Rodriguez and his wife, Delfina of Hamler, Ohio, Jesse Rodriguez and his wife, Helen of Deshler, Ohio, 38 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Guadalupe and Petra Rodriguez, her husband; Angel Rivera, two brothers; Tony Rodriguez, and Paul Rodriguez.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Rivera will be her children and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
