‘Grill’ surprises couple with pleasant experience

Posted

My husband and I had a very pleasant surprise last Saturday night that I want to tell you about. We took a chance and went to eat at the Lexington Grill in the Alcalde Hotel. I say we took a chance because we had had a couple of bad experiences there over a year ago, but we decided to try again.

Well, I must say that we got an enormous surprise! From the time we arrived we were welcomed royally. We were seated and immediately and waited on. Our waiter, Devin, was an absolute delight. He was attentive without being intrusive.

My husband ordered Toothpicks as an appetizer which he loved. (I couldn’t eat them because I’m off fried food for a while.) He had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and grave and sautéed green beans, proceeded by a green salad. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi on a bed of delicious rice, sautéed asparagus and sautéed green beans (substituted for my salad). We received so much food that we got take-home boxes. They then brought us each a slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Another surprise: the prices were so reasonable! Our food and service was the best we’ve had anywhere in a long time.

We asked some questions and learned that they have a new owner, new manager and new chef. If you haven’t tried the Grill yet, I strongly recommend that you do. You won’t regret it. I can’t wait to go back.
