Gonzales Youth Stock Show on tight schedule

The schedule is all set for the Gonzales County Youth Stock Show, running Thursday, March 1 through Saturday, March 3.

Animals will be checked in this afternoon (Thursday), with commercial heifers from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.; goats and lambs from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.; heifers and steers from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.; and swine from 6:45 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.

The show kicks off Friday morning with the annual Gonzales County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Cowboy Breakfast at 7 a.m.

From 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. will be the preliminary sift of rabbits; and, from 7 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. will be the preliminary sift of chickens.

Swine will be judged at 8 a.m. Lambs will be shown 10 minutes after the conclusion of the swine, followed by goats, rabbits and chickens. Commercial heifers will be shown at 10 a.m. – at the same time as the Heardsman Interviews.

The commercial heifer sale will be at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the day will start with baked goods judging from 7:30 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. Steers will be judged at 8 a.m., followed by heifers.

The buyers’ social is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Buyers should be registered by 5 p.m.

The market sale begins at 6 p.m. Add-on bids must be turned into the office by 5:30.
