Gonzales Inquirer launches new site

Posted

As readers may have noticed, the Gonzales Inquirer had their website revamped.

It’s been long overdue.

The new site is cleaner and will be a much better experience for web viewers. Readability was the biggest concern and we think this new website fixes that.

It should be noted that right now the site hasn’t reached its full capabilities. We’ll be implementing new things as we continue to tweak and tinker and move things around until we feel it’s absolutely right for all involved. Problems such as not being able to submit forms from our website will be a thing of the past. This site is built for efficiency and effectiveness, making it much more convenient for readers to interact with the paper, whether that’s by buying ads, sending in an obit, paying for space to place an anniversary or anything else you can think of.

If you had an account on our old website, you will have to register again on this current one. Be mindful of your username since the rules are a little different. For instance, spaces aren’t allowed, like they were in the old site — but you can solve that by using an underscore.

Currently, our e-editions are free for anyone to view. Once we set up the paywall, those e-editions will again be open for only paid subscribers. It pays to be a subscriber. The online version of the paper will be available to paid subscribers the night before the edition is published.

As new features roll out, we have one request. If you catch any problems, or if you have any suggestions, contact us. Our managing editor can be reached at sports@gonzalesinquirer.com.

At the end of the day, this is a website aimed at making our jobs as newsmen and your job as the reader much easier. This website accomplishes that, and will be even better as we continue to implement new ideas.
