Gonzales County reports 33 new COVID-19 cases Friday

Gonzales County reported 33 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, July 17, according to a release from County Judge Patrick C. Davis.

The report also serves as an epidemiological update on the virus’s spread in the county and greater Region 8 area. Data supplied for this regional analysis is from the Regional Health and Medical Operations Centers represents cases investigated by RHMOC staff in Region 8 and does not include local health departments or authorities independently investigating reported cases of coronavirus, Davis said in a Facebook post.

A majority of the cases investigated by RHMOC have unknown sources of exposure (28%), followed by community acquisition (24%) and healthcare related exposure (23%). The highest concentration of RHMOC cases is within the 20-29 age group, descending as ages increase. In total, 5200 investigations of coronavirus cases have been conducted by RHMOC, with 2884 of them being active, 2330 recovered, and 30 total deaths in the region. This week the region reported a total of 240 new cases.
