The Gonzales city council approved a $200,000 grant for Texas Gonzales Northern Railway to be used for rail improvements. The council, minus absent council member Gary Schroeder, unanimously approved the project.
“I think that’s a great project,” Mayor Connie Kacir said. “I commend the GEDC for putting that together.”
TXGN plans on adding 2,850 feet of rail track and roadbed to its existing right-of-way located approximately one mile north of the U.S. 90A railroad crossing. The approved city grant will be used for materials and construction.
