The Gonzales County Commissioners Court approved its annual budget for fiscal year 2019-20 Monday after a public hearing. The court also set its tax rate at 38.09 cents per $100 of valuation for the next fiscal year.
The new rate is lower than the previous year’s rate but will increase levy by $91,158. No other amendments were added to the budget prior to the court unanimously voting to pass it.
The court constructed the budget over the span of a couple of workshops and features increased funding for Gonzales County Rescue and Recovery and restructured clerkship pay scales.
One citizen spoke on behalf of the Gonzales Taxpayers Association and urged the court to make the budget accessible online and to budget revenues to tackle deficit spending.
