Gonzales city sales tax receipts down in August

According to figures compiled by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts’ office, the City of Gonzales saw a 2.72 percent decrease in August sales tax receipts when compared to the same month last year.

Gonzales’ receipts totaled out at $234,639 in August 2019, $6,568.46 lower than the August 2018 figure. The city maintains a 1.88 percent sales tax receipt increase in year-to-date totals from last year.

Gonzales County overall had a slight increase in sales tax receipts for the month. The county totaled $187,756.45 in sales tax receipts for August 2019, $2,243.77 higher than the previous August. Gonzales County holds a 17.86 percent increase in year-to-date totals from 2018.
