Gonzales city council to vote on tax rate, budget

Posted

Gonzales City Council will vote on the adoption of a new tax rate and budget, as well as, the ratification of a property tax increase as reflected in the budget at its Sept. 12 meeting.

The proposed tax rate of $0.3380 is the effective rate, or the calculated highest rate the city could have chosen without risk of a petitioned rollback election. If adopted, the tax rate would increase tax revenues by 19.99 percent over the current fiscal year.

Prior to a vote on the budget, city staff will give a presentation of the new budget to highlight any adjustments made since the filling. A public hearing will follow the presentation.
