GISD TRE election passes

GONZALES — Gonzales ISD was victorious over the weekend, having passed its Tax Ratification Election that is projected to save the district dollars normally sent to the state by swapping around a couple of tax formulas.
Turnout was low with 377 total votes cast by GISD residents. In-person early vote ballots were 182 for and 34 against. Ballots by mail scored 33 for and 44 against. On Election Day last Saturday, 59 voters showed up to vote for the measure and 23 voted against.
In total, 274 people voted for the TRE with 101 deciding against. The district posted a message online thanking voters for their participation.
