GISD to offer four-day window to return to onsite learning

The Gonzales Independent School District will be offering a four-day window, from Tuesday, Sept. 22 to Friday, Sept. 25 for students to return to on-site learning. Originally, all students were set to return to campus on Sept. 22.

In a press release, GISD Superintendent John Schumacher said that the change comes after considering the circumstances of parents, who are having to make a quick adjustment to return to school.

"Considering circumstances some parents and caregivers are experiencing and in order to ease the transition, Gonzales ISD will provide a four-day window for students to return to onsite learning," the release reads.

Remote teaching will not be offered during this four-day period, but assignments will still be able to be turned in remotely.

Parents are asked by the district to expect communication via the district website, robocalls and "communication directly from campuses," as the GISD Facebook page is "unavailable."
