GISD reminds parents to update contact information

The Gonzales ISD advised Monday that parents who are not receiving updates delivered through automated phone calls should e-mail the district gisd.communications@gonzalesisd.net.

According to Robin Trojcak, the district’s director of public relations, the district was contacted by two parents last week after not receiving two calls that other parents received.

“One of these parents had a different number than what was not in the system,” Trojack said. “We updated their profile number and they should receive future calls moving forward. The other individual’s information was in the system; however, the parent reported they did not receive the call after the first call last week.

“We double-checked the system once more before sending out the second call on Friday. We did not receive word if that parent continued to have issues receiving the call. We are hopeful they did receive it, but if they did not, we ask that they inform us so we can troubleshoot the issue.”

Trojack noted that in addition to automated phone calls, the district also posts the message content as an alert on its web site, https://www.gonzalesisd.net. The district’s Facebook also carries the alert, but the page is currently down. Trojack said she hopes the page will be up again in the near future.

The district’s automated system uses phone numbers provided by parents or guardians. Trojack said that if phone numbers change, it is important for parents to update the number with the school district.

“Having up-to-date contact numbers is extremely important for instances like these,” Trojack said. “Those changes have to be made manually. Communication is key, now more so than ever, and we want to ensure we reach everyone each time.”

Trojack encouraged parents to answer the automated calls even with the unfamiliar number and listen to the messages. Last week’s calls came from (855) 502-7867.

The district will only be aware of issues with the automated system if it is alerted by a parent.

“We do not know when numbers change unless the parents let us know and we update the systems,” Trojack said.
