Gonzales High School's one act play company is taking its play, “The Sins of Sor Juana” by Karen Zacarias, to the district One Act Play contest Tuesday, March 9 at Cuero High School's Performing Arts Center.

The company will perform against Judson High School, Navarro High School, Cuero High School, La Vernia High School, and Pleasanton High School. They are scheduled to perform around 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at the door. Hometown support of the show would be greatly appreciated.

Public performances will be held March 27 at 7 p.m. and March 28 at 2 p.m. in the Gonzales Junior High School auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door, $5 for adults and $3 for students or seniors.

The company has already had success at the Wimberley One Act Play Festival on Feb. 11, where Daniel Garcia and Jessie Vigil won Honorable Mention awards. Hope West and Paul DeLeon took home All-Star Cast awards. Emma Vega, in the title role of Juana, won Best Performer. Last year they were three days away from the district contest when it was canceled due to the pandemic.
