Genelda Talley Pruett

Genelda Talley Pruett, age 92 of Belmont, passed away on April 12. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Jack Shuford officiating. Interment will follow in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas. A reception will follow at the Richardson Center in Nixon. Genelda was born on August 25, 1925 in Gonzales County to Mervin C. and Edna (Soefje) Talley. Genelda graduated from Nixon High School in 1942.

She married Lynn Pruett on April 11, 1943 at First Baptist Church in Nixon. Genelda and Lynn reared their family in Gonzales, Texas. Genelda was actively involved in many church, civic, and school functions. She enjoyed the study of genealogy. She and Lynn devoted many years to farming and ranching. Genelda served in many leadership capacities at First Baptist Church in Gonzales for pre-school, intermediate, and adult Sunday school departments, as well as actively participated in the Woman's Missionary Union. Upon moving to the country, she became active at Leesville Baptist Church. She was co-founder of MHMR Services in Gonzales County, member of the Elks Lodge and was a member of the Pilot Club. Other memberships included the Daughters of the American Republic, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Lynn Pruett, her parents Mervin and Edna Talley, as well as her great grand-daughter Paige Pruett. Survivors include her loving sons, David Pruett and wife Jeanette, Ross Pruett and wife Ronda, and Kent Pruett and wife Karen; daughters, Carol Alyea and husband Kreis, and Donna Pruett; grandsons, Jay Pruett, Bryan Pruett and wife Shannon, Steven Alyea and wife Lindley, and Andrew Pruett; granddaughters, Christine Thiele and husband Michael, Rebecca Alyea, Lauren Ramirez and husband Jaime, Ashley Ekrut, and Amanda Pruett; great-grandsons, Conner and Coby Pruett, Jackson Thiele, Mason and Jake Pruett, Carter and Grayson Alyea; great-granddaughter, Bryce Thiele; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many, many friends throughout Gonzales and Guadalupe Counties.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Pruett, Bryan Pruett, Steven Alyea, Andrew Pruett, Michael Thiele, and Jaime Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Talley, Gene Talley, Buddy Dollins, Harold Mahan, Glen Soefje, Jackie Dunn, Gary Mercier, Mike Mahan, Gary Talley, and Cal Taylor.

Genelda enjoyed life to the fullest, always having a smile for everyone she encountered. Her most cherished times were spent among her family and friends, whether it be on the farm and ranch, coffee group at Main Drug in Nixon, her church functions, or any other event in which she was included.
