GCAM seeking holiday donations

Posted

The season of giving and of giving thanks is upon us. What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving and then Christmas than by helping to help provide a good holiday meal for a local family?

Gonzales Christian Alliance Ministries is asking for donations to the food pantry. At this time of year every food item is important, but GCAM likes to put more focus on traditional meal items, so families are able to feast on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

GCAM holiday pantry needs are: Meats, such as turkey, ham and roasts; canned vegetables, such as peas, green beans, corn, carrots and spinach; canned fruits and cranberry jelly/sauce; boxed sides, such as Mac n' cheese, stuffing mix and instant potatoes. The pantry is also looking for bread and dessert items, such as rolls/biscuits, cakes, pies, pastries and cookies.

Other items to consider include: fresh vegetables, spices, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, butter, eggs, flour, sugar, canned pie fillings, etc.

GCAM is located at 708 St. Louis Street, in Gonzales. The pantry is open from 8 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday. Frozen or refrigerated items may be dropped off at this time. Canned and dry goods donations may be dropped off at any time. To schedule an after-hours donation call 672-5566.
