Garcia competes at powerlifting state meet

WACO — Crystal Garcia took on the state championship powerlifting meet, placing 13th out of the 16 athletes in the 198-pound weight class. Garcia squatted 355 pounds, bench pressed 135 and dead lifted 330 pounds for a total of 820 pounds.
Mariana Botello of Beeville Jones placed first with splits of 515-265-315 for a total of 1,095 pounds. Taking second was Lytle’s Katelin Vandong who had splits of 450-210-430 for a total of 1,090 pounds. Reva Salazar of Beeville Jones took third, with lifts of 415-260-345 for a total of 1,020.
