G-Town Striders compete at AAU Junior Olympics

The G-Town Striders summer track and field AAU team qualified eight athletes to the national AAU Junior Olympic Games 2019. Of the eight, four Striders traveled to Greensboro, N.C. to take on the summer games.

Competing in the 9u boys division was Joe White Jr. who placed 15th in the preliminaries for the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.79 seconds, then placed 15th in the finals of the race with a time of 13.74 seconds. In the 400-meter race, White was timed at 1:10.43 in qualifiers.

Competing in the 12u girls division was Janaelya White who tied for 42nd out of the 83 competitors in the shot put event with her throw of 26-7 ¼. White also threw 50-9 in discus, placing 42nd out of the 56 competitors and 56-7 in turbo, placing 37th out of 76 athletes.

Janice White competed in the 11u girls division, placing 42nd out of 77 in discus with her toss of 20-8 1/2 – discus, 36th out of 49 athletes in shot put with her distance of 42-9 and 32nd out of 73 turbo with her distance of 49-4.

Donovan Steen placed 41st in the boys 10u turbo event out of 89 athletes.
