Two country western bands will kick off the 11th annual Gonzales Main Street Summer Concert Series on June 7. Five Card Draw, a seven-man band hailing from Corpus Christi is headlining the week one event. Despite almost 30 years playing together, the Concert Series showcase will be the band’s first ever time performing in Gonzales.

Alfred Tumlinson, the band’s singer and guitarist said they play both new and old country and even mix in some southern rock. When asked what concert attendees can expect, Tumlinson said, “a high energy show, a lot of entertainment and great dance music.”

Those interested in getting a sneak peek of Five Card Draw’s sound should check out their new single Nerves of Steel.

The opening act of the Concert Series will see Kenny Orts and No Chance take the stage. Orts, a long-time veteran of the Texas country scene, said he’s been playing professionally since the seventh grade and this current band has been together for about “seven or eight years.”

Orts said this upcoming show is his second pilgrimage to the Birthplace of Texas. Expect to hear lots of dance hall hits of the 80’s and early 90’s from Kenny Orts and No Chance.

“They’ll get a good taste of traditional country all the way to the cover music of the 80’s and 90’s,” Orts said.

Kenny Orts and No Chance take the stage at 7 p.m. June 7 and Five Card Draw go on at 8:45 p.m. The show is free to attend.
