‘Friends of Lake Wood’ to receive update on dam repairs

Lake Wood has been empty for 18 months and Friends of Lake Wood, an association of property owners and interested parties, are once again asking Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) for answers.

Association chairman Joe Solansky reached out to GBRA recently and has invited authority officials to make a presentation on updates to the Lake Wood situation. GBRA has accepted the invitation and the Friends of Lake Wood group is expecting to hear from Deputy General Manager Jonathon Stinson, Deputy Division Director for Hydroelectric and Rural Utilities Jeff McKee and Manager of Project Engineering Charlie Hickman.

Stinson said the GBRA officials in attendance will be able to answer questions relating to the construction and financing of the gate replacement project, the conclusion of the lease program and other lake-management issues.

The Lake Wood update will be heard at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, at The Gonzales Elks Lodge.

According to GBRA, a similar update will be provided for the GBRA board of directors at the board's November Meeting, on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
