Frank Joe Dzienowski Sr., 85, of Del Valle, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10.

He was born June 3, 1932 in Lockhart, TX the son of Steve and Annie Kalinowski Dzienowski. Early in life he played semi pro baseball throughout the state. He was a highly decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict and faithfully served with the United States Army from 1950 until 1954. He married Rachel Geraldine “Gerry” Gibson on April 4, 1966 in Gonzales. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a member of the Southeast Travis County Fire Department, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to fish. He had a passion for gardening . He was dubbed the unofficial meteorologist of southeast Travis County by his family and friends.

He enjoyed following the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns and his favorite “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price is Right.” He was a man of many talents and spoke Spanish, Korean and Polish. He was affectionately known as “Frankie” and “Uncle Frankie” by family, “Papa” by his loving grandchildren and “Poncho” by his many friends.

He is survived by his daughters: Karen Sue Grauke and husband Donald of Gonzales, Belinda Marie Dzienowski of Del Valle, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Weaver and husband Whit of Austin, Laura Jo Dzienowski of Austin and Frances Onita Meyer of Manor; son Frank Joe “Joey” Dzienowski and wife Melissa of Paige; grandchildren: Kaley Breanna Dzienowski, Donald Wayne Grauke Jr., Wyatt Logan Weaver, Wriley Elizabeth Weaver, Jacob David Dzienowski, Matthew Dylan Grauke and Sierra Dawn Bully; great-granddaughter Weslyn Marie Grauke. He is also survived by his brothers: Edmund, Billy, Richard, Walter and Chester Dzienowski and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful companions Willie and Presley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, August 14. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodmen of the World Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by The American Legion Post 41 of Lockhart, TX. Frank and Gerry’s children wish to give a special thank you to Aunt Patsy Malik for always being there for their family and to longtime family friends Kim Eller and her family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
