Four officers to be sworn in Thursday

The Gonzales City Council is expected to swear in four new police officers at its Thursday, Jan. 9 meeting. Christopher Rodriguez, Eric A. Long, Caesar Martinez and Darrance James are the officers expected to join the ranks of the Gonzales Police Department.

The council will also consider purchasing two Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicles in an amount not to exceed $81,188 for the police department. The new trucks would replace two Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicles which have become “a maintenance burden.”

The swear in ceremony is the first listed agenda item after city announcements and public comments while the vehicle purchase is under the consent agenda items. The Gonzales City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Gonzales Municipal Building.
