Evelyn Karm Martin, 91, died Thursday, July 27 at 6 p.m.

She was born November 20, 1925 in Gonzales to the late Arthur and Ida Karm. She was a graduate of Refugio High School, Jefferson Davis Hospital School of Nursing, the University of Missouri, Trinity University and received a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Among others, she held positions with the American Red Cross serving in Oklahoma and Bexar County, as assistant professor at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, and assistant administrator with Warm Springs Foundation, Gonzales. She was retired.

Survivors include Patrick O. Martin III, grandchildren Rhiannon and Patrick Martin IV, and many grandchildren. She had a large extended family and numerous friends including sisters Pauline Graumann of Kenedy, Gladys Henson of San Antonio, Helen Buckey of Orange Grove and Wilma Parker of Refugio, one brother Ralaud Karm of Woodsboro. She was presided in death by husband Patrick Martin Jr. and both parents. Evelyn died in peace in her home and will be forever loved by her son, Patrick Martin.
