Juan Mario Garcia was captured in La Salle County on Sunday, July 25, less than four days after he escaped from the Recreation Yard at the Gonzales County Jail. 
 
No further details of his arrest are available. 
 
La Salle County is about 170 miles southwest of Gonzales County.
 
 
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at approximately 10:34 p.m., Garcia scaled two concertina-topped fences at the jail and fled the area on foot, according to a press release issued by the Gonzales County Sheriff's Office Thursday afternoon, July 22..
 
According to the Sheriff's Office, an extensive search was conducted by the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, Gonzales Police Department, Texas DPS and DPS Air Assets, Texas Department of Criminal Justice K9 Team, Texas Game Wardens, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, Nixon Police, and Waelder Police. Garcia was not located. He was last seen wearing an orange Jail jumpsuit.
 
Garcia had been confined pending charges for Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and Aggravated Kidnapping stemming from an incident on July 9, 2021, in the 1600 block of St. Vincent in Gonzales where shots were fired from inside the home.
 
An Arrest Warrant for Escape has been issued for Garcia. The US Marshall’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has been contacted for assistance.
 
Garcia is considered dangerous.
