Dorothy Chapman

Dorothy Chapman was born Aug. 16, 1940 to the late Leonard Patton and Alice Louise Clay. She was raised in Nordheim, Texas in DeWitt County. Sister Chapman was married to Buster Chapman. She was blessed with one son, Michael Patterson. Sister Chapman received her education in DeWitt County.

Ms. Chapman professed a hope in Christ and was united with the Union Lea Missionary Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas. She was a faithful member participating in Sunday School, the Women’s Mission, Bible Study and Church services. To know her was to love her. Sister Chapman had such a sweet smile and was willing to help in any capacity that the church needed her to work. Sister Chapman loved her Pastor, and expressed it to him often.

She was affectionately devoted to Joyce and Elroy Wilson Jr. They would bring her to church every Sunday and she would always have that smile. You would know when she was absent, because you would miss her favorite saying; HALLELUJAH. Sister Chapman touched many lives during her time here on earth, and she will be truly missed.

Sister Chapman was employed with Holly Farms for 20 years. Following her tenure with Holly Farms, she was employed with the Gonzales ISD for seven years where she retired.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish memory, one son; Michael Patterson (Felicia) of Galveston, Texas, one brother; Leo Robinson of Yoakum, Texas, five grandchildren; Derrick Ussery, Heather Patterson, Tamera Patterson, Krisslynn Sexton and David Sexton, close family member, Joyce and Elroy Wilson Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. Special thanks to Dr. Commie Hisey, Gonzales Memorial Hospital and The Heights of Gonzales.
